Playdough and natural resources:-)
We’ve been adding the resources we find on our autumn walks to our playdough table, this week it’s cinnamon playdough (think I may have overdone the cinnamon slightly as it is quite overpowering!)
The children added the resources to make some fantastic creations.
There were opportunities to strengthen muscles in arms and hands through pushing the sticks hard into the dough….
…and then trying to pull them back out.
We also added one of the sweetcorn cobs we had been growing in the garden to the table later in the week. Just right for a bridge!
The playdough also formed a base for the children to sort the resources.
Categorising objects according to their properties.
They also discovered they could use the resources to make marks in the dough.
The squirrels added from our Autumn tray were also used to make marks.
The squirrels weren’t the only resource to be added to play – looks a bit like quick sand:-)
I then hid the resources inside the dough for the children to discover.
They thought this was brilliant and it provided the opportunity to reinforce the names of the resources as the children discovered them.
The older children joined in play after school and came up with more intricate creations – this was a forest:-)
