Can we sculpt with paper? Sure we can! We’ll fold, cut, tear… make towers, pyramids, curly-cues…. there is no right or wrong way to do this project!
Plain or fancy paper, plain or fancy scissors–the artist gets to decide!
Because they would be gluing things onto the paper at angles, the children fist covered a piece of cardboard with paper.
Now that the base was sturdy, they could get to work! As they began they weren’t too sure about what to do, so I randomly started cutting and folding things… soon they started to get ideas for their own folds and designs.
Strips, rolls, coils, cones….
they came up with lots of different dimensions, and ways to support their art.
It’s all about trying something new– cutting, bending, folding… creating!
