Easter Chicks

Here are our cute opening chick eggs the children have been working on this week.

I love these as the children get to develop their small motor skills and strengthen hand muscles every time they squeeze the peg to open the egg.
Oh and it is a really simple activity to do:-)

The children started off decorating their templates with pens.

We then added glue and some chicks, bunnies and lambs.  I coloured the glues so the children would be able to see where they were applying it.  After I added the paint and glue to the pot (without the children knowing there was paint under the glue) I encouraged the children to stir the glue to reveal the colour!

They then added glue and selected the decorations they wanted to use.

Giving the glue an extra stir!

Some of us chose to do this in a slightly different way!

Once their decorations had dried, I cut the egg into two pieces in a zig zag shape (tip – cut the last bit in a horizontal line as it make attaching the peg easier!)

Older children could cut the egg themselves.27

I then hot glued the peg onto the back…..

…and then the chicks.
